Due to the increased size of newer Nodegrid OS images, older systems may be required to go through an intermediate version when upgrading to ensure normal operation. The Nodegrid OS versions that can adjust the existing partition size to meet these requirements include Nodegrid OS v4.1.6 & v4.2.4 for all models, and v5.8.10 and newer for NSCs starting at v3.2.54. An intermediate upgrade is not required if starting Nodegrid OS version is v4.1.6-v4.1.17, v4.2.4-v4.2.17, v5.x, v6.x, or newer.
Warning: Skipping the recommended intermediate upgrades may cause:
- Future upgrades to fail, even if an initial upgrade is successful.
- Automatic upgrade recovery to fail, requiring the system to be reinstalled from USB or booted from ZTP
How to determine the recommended upgrade path:
- Find the table below associated with the current Nodegrid OS version
- Find the row in that table related to the desired Nodegrid OS version
- Review the Intermediate Upgrade Required column for recommendations and notes
Once the upgrade path is determined, proceed with upgrade(s) as recommended:
- via direct connection: How Do I Upgrade the Software of My Nodegrid?
- via ZPE Cloud: How to: Software Upgrade a Nodegrid device using ZPE Cloud
Starting Nodegrid OS version is v3.2.54 (NSC only):
Important: If starting Nodegrid OS version is not v3.2.54, upgrade to v3.2.54 before proceeding.
