When is Hostname Detection triggered

Hostname Detection allows automatic discovery of target devices based on login banners and prompt. Discovered hostname will be used as target name in Nodegrid.

NOTE: Make sure that "Enable Hostname Detection" is ticked in the serial port properties.

Hostname Detection is triggered based on the serial port "RS-232 signal for device state detection" or on "Enable device state detection based in data flow":



Each time the serial port goes UP, the hostname detection discovery will be triggered. If a match is found, the hostname in Nodegrid for the serial port will be replaced by the newly discovered name. Check our relevant articles on how to create/change match strings for Hostname Detection.
