Connecting a Raritan/Servertech Pro4 to Nodegrid OS for console access


Connecting a Raritan/Servertech Pro4 (iX9 controller) to Nodegrid OS for console access


To have console access to a Raritan/Servertech Pro4, you will need:

1 x Male USB A to Male USB B cable

Connecting the Raritan/Servertech Pro4 to the Nodegrid Appliance

Connect the Male USB-B to the USB-B on the Raritan/Servertech USB-B port:

NOTE: Only USB-B on the Raritan/Servertech Pro4 provides serial console access

The other end of the cable: USB-C will be connected to an available USB port on the Nodegrid appliance.

Once the USB cable is connected, login in to the Nodegrid appliance.


Checking the USB connection on Nodegrid OS

To find out which USB port the Raritan is connected to, go to: Tracking :: Devices :: USB devices

In the above screenshot, the console port has been detected as a “Dominion PX2 Serial Console” on physical USB port 0-2 as a serial device (Type).

NOTE: Sometimes, the console port USB connection can be detected as a modem, as per screenshot below:

In the above, the Raritan/Servertech Pro4 console port has been detected on physical port 0-3 but as a modem (Type). The type can be manually changed to reflect the wanted type.

In the Web Interface go to: Managed Devices and click on the physical USB port on which the Raritan/Servertech Pro4 console port was detected. From the screenshot just above it would be USB physical port 0-3:

Change the “Type” to usb_serialB

Configuring the USB console port properties

Port properties should be as below:

Make sure that the “Mode” is Enable

Change the name to something relevant.

You can even change the icon to “Raritan” or "Server Technology".


Accessing the console port

In the Web Interface to go Access and click on “console”

A new window should open and you should have something similar to:
